David Wilkins
Upper Elementary Teacher
 David Wilkins, Upper El teacher at Eliot
since 2001, pursued an unusual path to his
career as a Montessori teacher. A native of
Needham, MA, Dave earned his BS in Accounting
from LaSalle University in Philadelphia.
He worked as an accountant for a number of
years and held the positions of Aquatics
Director and Senior Program Director at the
Charles River YMCA in Needham, MA. His
experience in the child-centered environment at
the YMCA led him to explore the Montessori
teaching philosophy and he enjoys seeing his
students thrive in a Montessori setting.
Teaching runs in Dave's family - his father
taught history in the Needham school system for
over thirty years and his eldest sister is a
reading recovery specialist.
During his free time Dave likes to read,
swim, travel and indulge in good food.
