Special Events

Arts Festival Week

The first annual Arts Festival Week was held successfully in May of 2006. Through the combined efforts of the faculty and the AF committee, a full week of activities was presented that highlighted instrumental and vocal music and dance performance, artwork by individuals and a whole school tile project, creative writing and poetry, model airplane construction, film, quilting, the Spring Concert and a formal evening of Latin Declamation. In addition to planned venues, informal and spontaneous performances by individual students in the classrooms complemented the open house feeling that embraced a celebration of the arts at Eliot.

DEAR Day

Drop Everything And Read -- DEAR day is truly a unique experience that the entire school enjoys. On that day, students bring in cuddly animals, pillows, slippers and their favorite book to read. Only specials interrupt this delicious treat!

Grandparents' & Special Friends' Day

Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day is a way for family and friends to learn about the work done by our students.

On this day, each child invites their grandparent or a special friend to visit the school for the morning. They visit the classrooms and look at the work that has been going on throughout the year. Everyone comes together in the gym and students perform musical presentations and classes put on plays. The Middle School students create a luncheon for their guest and do some separate presentations of their work.

Science Fair

This annual spring event is one in which the whole school participates, even the Kindergarteners. Projects vary from researching birds to "Creating Your Own Wind Tunnel". Everyone is invited to tour the classrooms and the gymnasium to see the students' projects.

Although Eliot is generally non-competitive, the Middle School students talk with a "judge", generally volunteer parents and friends of Eliot who have professions in the sciences, about their project and what they have learned. The judges comment on your project's strengths and weaknesses.

Winter and Spring Concerts

The Winter and Spring Concerts are both all-school concert celebrating the Winter and Spring Season, they takes place at the Sorenson Center for the Arts, located on the campus of Babson College in Wellesley, MA.
